YAACOV SHPRINGER, of blessed memory

He was 51 when he died. He left behind a wife, a son and a daughter.

He was born in Poland and trained at the Physical Education College. He excelled at wrestling and weightlifting and represented Poland in many competitions.

He immigrated to Israel in 1956 and devoted his time to teaching physical education in schools in Bat Yam, where he lived, and at the municipal youth club in Jaffa.

He trained hundreds of young people and raised a generation of champions, coaches, and referees. He trained the Israeli weightlifting team.

He won international renown as a referee. He traveled to Munich for the fifth time in his career, as an official judge in the Olympics.

He was buried in the Holon cemetery.
